A DRONE LOGISTICS COMPANY [ADLC]

It’s an Antwerp project with Antwerp technology. That’s enjoyable for everyone involved.

Safe and sustainable transport of samples via drones

A Drone Logistics Company (ADLC) is a start-up from the Beacon community that develops and designs industrial express delivery by drone. ADLC's mission is to provide safe and sustainable services and to integrate drone transport into its business operations.  To demonstrate this concept and its added value, ADLC - in cooperation with SGS - will implement a large-scale 'drone delivery project' in the port of Antwerp. This is a pilot project for further (inter)national roll-out in other ports.

In cooperation with the chemical company BASF Antwerp, a large-scale 'drone delivery project' was launched in the port of Antwerp in March 2023. Called Samplifly, it's aimed at transporting (petro)chemical analysis samples from ships to the laboratory by drone, which is normally done by van and takes four times longer. This form of air transport also reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80%. The first test flights took place in March 2023 at BASF's site in the port of Antwerp. The pilot project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

This form of logistic drone flights for hazardous products in an industrial environment is a European first. With this prestigious innovation project, the three strategic partners aim to make port operations more efficient and reduce the environmental impact of transporting analytical samples. This is a ground-breaking pilot project. If it is successful, it will be replicated in other ports abroad.
